Marriage is always a work in progress as they always say and it takes teamwork to work it out and make it last. Though, we cannot assure that marriage will all be about bliss, happiness and fun at least we can still make them that way on most years of the relationships.

Like what is happening to me and my husband. The first years of our marriage was great, everything seems to be perfect. We were so excited of what will come ahead between us. But as years pass by and had our first child, that eagerness somehow diminishes especially on my part. Somehow, I was looking for something more from my husband and I hated it when I feel that. I usually show tantrums when that happen just to tell him that I’m not happy with our current state. But of course, we have to work it out especially for our son. So I tried my best to be more understanding, patient and be satisfied of what we have.

I also thought of reading various articles that can help me understand the true essence of marriage and surprisingly, I was able to cope up. Today, I wanted to share you some of those secrets for a successful marriage. They are just simple tasks that you might overlook but these tasks can save you as a couple for a lifetime.

First, Listen. Before making your spouse understand what you think, learn to listen what he thinks. Be in tune with both the verbal and nonverbal signs. Do not assume that you know and understand; it is always important to clarify.

Then Accept. Take your partner in his entirety. As you learn to understand the other person’s language, you need to accept all that is conveyed. You cannot change the other person; you can only try to change yourself. (This has been one of my recurring problems before)

Affirm. Acknowledge what you understand and accept. Give your spouse frequent and sincere compliments.

Demonstrate you love. Regularly do the things that he likes. Send thoughtful text messages, say “I love you”, or touch each other affectionately as often as possible.

Be the best of friends. Gain your partner’s trust by keeping his treasures and secrets sacred. Realize that trust in a relationship is something you cannot afford to lose. Be your partner’s number one supporter.

Hang out with each other. Find common things that you enjoy doing together. Spend excessive time with your partner, whether that means doing household chores together or going on special dates.

Lastly. Laugh Together!

That’s it. Simple isn’t. Gesture that we usually forget to do because of our occupied mind and tired body. I just hope with these phrases I was able to help other marriage couples there to work things out.

My cousin Sheena has always wanted to become a beautician since we were kids. I still remember when we play together, she usually has a Barbie doll where she put make up on and twists its hair all the time. That’s why at that early age I know she will become one of the best beauticians I knew.

But apparently, when she entered school, her dad disagreed with the whole idea. Her dad insisted that she should become a professional and get hire in a big company with huge compensation. So, to satisfy her father’s request she did everything to finish college and earn a professional degree. Her dad was very pleased with what she has done but Sheena was not. Ouch! For my aching back! Urgh!

I’ve been feeling my back since I entered my 5^th month of pregnancy. Well, this is maybe because of my long term sitting while blogging.
