Signs of the Superchild Syndrome
Sometimes it isn’t easy for parents to recognize when they’ve been pushing their child too hard. While a few parents quite consciously set about trying to create a superchild, most parent s aren’t even aware that they’re pushing – much less that the pushing has a negative effect. Watch for warning signs that your child maybe under TOO MUCH PRESSURE:
~ Little or no time for free, unstructured play.
~ Anxiety, tension, moodiness, fatigue, irritability, aggressiveness, frequent crying or whining, frequent tantrums, depression, and lack of enthusiasm.
~ Problems or issues concerning sleeping or eating
~ Headaches, stomachaches, tremors, tics, or other psychosomatic ailments. (of course, illness should always be ruled out by the doctor in the case of such symptoms. )
~ An inability to play well or get along with peers.
Any one of these signs, whether it indicates excessive pushing or another concern in your child’s life, deserve attention. If the underlying cause seems to be too much parental pressure, you should reevaluate the situation and consider easing up.
What to expect the Toddler Years
Disney’s Private Island
Have you heard that Disney has its own private island? Oh yeah, better believe it because they do have one place called Castaway Cay!

I’ve been a real fan of Disney since I was a kid and until this day, I love every film and entertainment they offer. That’s why when I heard about Disney’s own private island, I got ecstatic to the point I want to bring my family at Castaway Cay thru Disney Cruise Line.
But of course, I can’t afford a cruise just now and I need to seek in more money to have that done. But if ever some of you are interested, you can check out their site and choose the variety of days and packages you can ride on their Caribbean cruise and yes go to your favorite exotic places like the Caribbean or Castaway Cay!

Worried About Your Child’s Reading?
If your child can’t read by kindergarten, there’s no need to despair. Some kids start a bit later but learn quickly. Here’s a relic from an article I ‘ve read from my fave parenting site. I just want to share this one to all mommies out there who worries so much about their child’s reading and intellectual development. ![]()

Q: Some of the kids in my son’s kindergarten class can read, but he isn’t even close. Should I be worried that he’s falling behind?
A: No. “While some children are able to read in kindergarten, many are not,” notes Ruth Graves, former national president of Reading Is Fundamental, in Washington, DC.
If you’re really concerned, talk to your son’s teacher, adds Graves. But, in general, what’s most important is exposure to the alphabet and various forms of print. Try these tactics to help your child get ready for words:
- Read to him at least once a day.
- Keep books and magazines around the house-and make sure your child sees you reading them.
- Take regular trips to the library, and encourage your child to pick out some books on his own.
- Give your child books as gifts.
- Teach him to write his name.
- Point out letters and words in his environment. (For example: “See that stop sign? It says S-T-O-P, stop.”)
Well, I just hope this article has helped many parents that’s experiencing this kind of dilemma.

Qwest Communications
Having an internet at home is a must nowadays. With the increasing demand on human technology and information many people rely on browsing the web to gather more data or at least get some facts about something. Like they used it for school projects, home improvements, business ventures, world wide communication and many more.
That’s why my SIL Gail had finally decided to install her own internet connection with Qwest for our daily communication. I mean chatting over the internet is much more cost efficient and easy than calling overseas with a card, right? Though, if I’m not mistaken, Qwest Communications doesn’t only offers internet connection but also long distance plans, where a subscriber can have unlimited calls all over the states or any parts of the world. And you know what, other than Qwest DSL Service they also have direct tv services and unlimited local phones. Cool huh?
They really have the best packages over its competitors. Now, I won’t wonder why my SIL chosen Qwest for her communication services.
Myths About Germs
Nowadays, being cautious is not a sin. Especially with the viruses roaming around our planet, a parent can’t help but be obsessive compulsive especially with regards to the health her/his kids and family.
That’s why as a parent I tried searching for some information that will make me more aware about my family’s health and how to take good care of it and to fight any virus like the pandemic Swine Flu.
As a start, let’s try to know more about unhealthy GERMS. The leading cause of many illnesses around the globe. Did you know that there are myths about it? I got some of the data from Parents.com
Here are some of them:
The Famous Five-Second Rule
If something hits the floor for less than five seconds, can you assume it’s not contaminated and give it right back to a child? Not usually. In one small University of Illinois study, researchers tested wooden floors in high-traffic areas around the university and found that there wasn’t much bacteria to contaminate dry-food items. Many tile and wooden floors are dry and therefore don’t support bacterial growth, says lead author Meredith Agle, PhD. But when E. coli was put on tiles, she found that the food was contaminated within seconds. And keep in mind that restroom floors can be germ-ridden areas, says Charles Gerba, PhD, of the University of Arizona, who conducted a study of more than 50 restrooms. Remember, too, that the University of Illinois study didn’t test carpeted floors, a surface that might contaminate items with bacteria instantly, says Agle. She also notes that her study didn’t look at how quickly a dropped item might be contaminated with viruses, nor did it consider nonfood items, such as pacifiers. “I think you are less likely to transfer bacteria on dry food or toys than on drool-laden pacifiers,” says Agle.
But there will be times when washing just isn’t possible. “I didn’t use the five-second rule, but I did use my ‘crawling rule,’” says Christina Greene, of Chatham, New Jersey. She meticulously washed everything before her son, Christian, who turned 1 last November, began crawling. “But once he was mobile, I’d turn around and find him chewing on our shoes,” she says. “How much worse is it if he drops a toy on the floor and then puts that in his mouth?”
Donald Schiff, MD, professor emeritus of pediatrics at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine, in Denver, agrees: “If you’re hyper-strict about cleaning, you’d have to keep a child off the floor and also keep everything out of his mouth. There has to be some sense of humor and practicality about this.”
Are You a Germ Worrywart?
The Down and Dirty Playground Equipment: the greatest numbers of bodily fluids (urine, saliva, and mucus) are found on the highly used monkey bars, swings, and slide, says microbiologist Charles Gerba, PhD.
Public Toilets: It’s unlikely you’ll catch an illness from using a public bathroom, says infectious disease expert Thomas Sandora, MD. Wash your hands to be sure.
Unwashed Fruit: Produce can carry E. coli, but when you rinse it, you reduce the number of bacteria tenfold, says microbiologist Meredith Agle, PhD.
Toys at Daycare: They are generally wiped clean, says Gerba.
Paper Money or Library Books: Dry items like these are not usually germ-ridden even though they’re handled by lots of people, says Gerba.
Do We Need Some Germs?
Whether or not exposure to some germs is actually good for your immune system is a medical controversy. Asthma is a case in point. “Some people believe that if you’re not exposed to infections at a young age, you have a higher chance of getting asthma down the road,” notes Thomas Sandora, MD, of Children’s Hospital Boston. But the research isn’t clear on this, he says.
The use of antibacterial soap has also sparked debate. It has come under fire for possibly causing resistance to antibiotics, but the FDA said last October that there is no evidence of this in people. “However, there is laboratory evidence of resistance,” says Stuart Levy, MD, a professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, in Boston, and author of The Antibiotic Paradox (Perseus Books, 2002). “Scientists need to examine this issue over a longer period of time.” Either way, the main problem with antibacterial soaps is that they don’t do a better job of taking germs off your hands than regular soaps, says Alastair J.J. Wood, MD, chairman of the FDA’s Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee.
It is just wise for us parents to be really careful and be

Nourished Kid?
As some of you know, my son Aj is going to be 3 this August.
And as 3 year old boy, I can say that he’s pretty advanced in many aspects than the kids of his age around the neighborhood. He can talk straight and clear. Knows his ABC’s shapes and numbers and I can say he’s growing up they way we wanted too.
But what’s really bothering me nowdays is his eating habits, I really don’t know if he’s a picky eater or something but somehow based on my observation, he doesn’t really eat any other foods – he only loves noodles and chicken. Though he’s pretty much into adobo or I think he just loves the salty taste of it.
Look at him in this photo.
The gravy of this chicken just existed a minute.lol!
Good thing, he still loves he’s milk! At least he still has some source of nutrients in his bottle right?
Anyways, I need to call a Plano Dentist for my dad’s appointment. Ciao!
Mommy Moment: That’s Dad!
That’s Dad!
My hubby and Aj’s dad!
He’s pretty more alike like my son.

They think alike and act alike at times. They love the outdoors and sports! And they are really addicted to cars and guns! Lol!
Anyways, having him as my husband and a dad to my son Aj is just perfect. Even though we sometimes think different and somehow have opposite personalities, our life is always fun and exciting!
